5 Ways I Use ChatGPT to Grow My Side Hustle

Artificial Intelligence chat bots have taken the world by storm in 2023. Beyond ChatGPT, other solutions like Google Bard, Jasper, and others have really carved out a niche.

One of the best applications of this technology is harnessing it to help start or grow a side hustle into a thriving business.

Today, I'm back to show you 5 ways I routinely use ChatGPT to grow my side hustle.

What is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence language model that is able to write human-like text and respond to a seemingly endless list of prompts. As such, it is highly proficient at generating human-like responses in a conversational way.

This model makes the technology adept at a multitude of topics, including:

Answering questions
Language translation
Programming/coding
Math and calculations
Data entry
SO much more

At this time, though, ChatGPT's memory only goes through September 2021, so this is something you'll need to keep in mind.

5 ways I use AI to grow my side hustle

I've been using AI since it became viable and the results have been phenomenal. There was a learning curve, sure, but on the other side, my side hustle has scaled more quickly while I work less hours than I used to.

And now, I'm going to share these secrets with you.

1. Generating Content

No one task takes more of my time than writing content does. Luckily, artificial intelligence, and ChatGPT in particular, has cut the amount of time content takes me to write by half - or more!

It isn't just useful for blog posts, though. It can also help you do things like write:

Product descriptions
Sales copy
Video summaries for YouTube
Emails

You never want to just copy and paste the output from an AI chatbot verbatim, though, given plagiarism, copyright, and accuracy concerns. But what I routinely do is use the AI output for structure and ideas, making sure I don't miss any topics that I should be covering in any piece.

2. Email marketing

Most of the email flows and marketing campaigns that my readers sign up for through The Student Debt Destroyer were actually built with the help of AI. Not only can it write more convincing copy than I can, but it naturally helps advance my leads further down the sales cycle at the same time that they're ready for it.

ChatGPT can also help you write convincing email subjects that will encourage readers to open the emails that are delivered.

You may also opt to use the chatbot to write different copies of the same email, if you're planning to test open rates by A/B testing, to name one example.

3. Build a sales funnel

Believe it or not, ChatGPT and AI also built my side hustle's sales funnel. Here's how. I asked for help, and I was given ideas and strategies for my:

Target audience (which I validated through market research)
Content ideas and lead magnets
Landing pages, including persuasive copy
Strategies to generate leads
Email marketing
Customer segmentation
And more!

The best part is that after my sales funnel is active, I can periodically request ongoing help as well.

4. Product/Service Development

Over time, innovation and the evolution of your products or services may be the differentiating factor between scaling into a business or continuing as a side hustle. And artificial intelligence can be your best friend here.

For instance, ChatGPT and other bots can help you to:

Brainstorm new product ideas/features
Create user surveys and feedback forms in order to conduct market research and gauge demand

The key here is to be very specific in your ask. Mentioning your target audience and the problem(s) you're solving for them is a great start, and it will help the AI to best assist you.

I've even used it for new product ideas, including my Side Hustle Accelerator course! I just told ChatGPT what my business was, how I had a passion for helping others grow and scale side hustles.

The technology can be that powerful.

5. Customer support

AI can actually be implemented into customer support workflows.

Chatbots, for instance, have grown in popularity across websites, and can be set up to answer questions, segment inquiries, and establish priority levels for you to respond to. While I haven't yet added a chatbot to my site yet, I have used AI, and ChatGPT in particular, to help provide customer support to my customers.

And there are plenty of reasons to do so. AI can be present when you're not, offering:

Instant response capabilities
Availability 24/7, covering you when you're not working
Multilingual help
A consistent experience to all customers/inquiries

Anything that helps streamline or automate your operations is a good thing.

Tips to use ChatGPT to build your side hustle

Now, here are some tips on how to use AI bots like ChatGPT to get the best possible output to your prompts.

1. Be specific

As I alluded to, the more specific you are with your prompts, the better. So, instead of challenging ChatGPT to "write me a welcome email to someone signing up for my side hustle workshop," instead provide plenty of context about anything that could help get you a better result.

Something like this works better:

"Write me the first email in an email flow for leads coming to my website and signing up for a free side hustle workshop. My end goal is to get my email leads to buy a program called The Side Hustle Accelerator, where I'll show them how to pick, grow, and scale a side hustle into a full-time business."

Here is what ChatGPT created:

"Subject: Welcome to the Side Hustle Workshop 🚀

Dear [Lead's Name],

I hope this email finds you well. Welcome to the Side Hustle Workshop, and thank you for taking the first step towards turning your side hustle into a thriving full-time business. We're excited to have you on board!

2. Provide further context

Don't just take the original output at face value. Oftentimes, a ChatGPT answer gets me three quarters of the way to the answer I'm looking for. But rather than settle, you can actually provide more context and ask the bot to provide you a new response.

In instances like this, ChatGPT will actually remember your last prompt, so long as you provide your follow-up question/commentary immediately below the original.

This is a feature that many AI users don't use, for whatever reason.

3. Ask follow-up questions

Many AI users will ask a question without considering all of the additional context that could be provided with a follow-up question. For instance, when I asked ChatGPT to build me a sales funnel, I was provided the steps in creating one.

But then when I explained my business model and asked for my sales funnel to be created for me, I was given so much more information, example sales copy, CTAs, and other features!

The true power is in the follow-up questions!

Side hustles you can start with ChatGPT

Of course, artificial intelligence will have an easier time starting certain side hustles over others. Those ideas that tend to work really well in conjunction with ChatGPT include:

Coaching and consulting businesses: AI can do much of the heavy lifting in terms building materials for clients and developing coaching programs or content required to turn leads into clients.

Affiliate marketing: Part of my business's revenue is derived from affiliate marketing revenue, and ChatGPT was extremely helpful in helping me to find worthy programs and outline content to promote these products or services.

Online courses: AI can create resources, worksheets, and outline modules that you can use to create a course to sell to your web visitors, social media followers, and other leads.

Online commerce: ChatGPT excels in writing product descriptions and building marketing materials, so that you can spend your time selling and generating revenue, rather than working on non-revenue generating activities.
